Aubrey and I were working together to make a few treats for Asher's first birthday party tomorrow ( wipes away tear) and here was our exchange:

Aubrey: I can't wait to surprise Asher tomorrow with my special cookies!

Me: Yeah, the party will be lots of fun!

Aubrey ( in her most adult tone) : Yes, it is lovely to celebrate, isn't it?

Swagger Wagon?

So we've decided to join the ranks of minivan crowd. Yes, we're one of "those" people. No sporty two-seater for us, give me stow and go seating, automatic sliding side doors, and goldfish crackers in the backseat! : ) You know you're in deep when it sounds romantic when your husband whispers those 8 little words..." I want to buy a minivan with you!" That's commitment.

We've been saving up for a little while now and were so excited to be able to find a great deal and pay cash. I'll be cruising in an '06 silver Dodge Grand Caravan SXT, so if you see me rollin' in the drive-thru line make sure you say hi : )

Poor Asher, this is what happens when mommy leaves you alone for a minute with your 3 yr. old sister. She dresses you up in hats and necklaces and forces you to have a photo shoot even though you're still groggy from your morning nap. : ) I have to say though, you are definitely working that look!

Day 3

Just barely poking through this morning before church.

They really got going when we came home after church this afternoon. I set them outside to enjoy another 80 degree day. ( And yes as I type it is 10:22 pm and currently 70 degrees outside....Go Spring!) Let's hope they keep this up and grow lush and tall by Saturday! : )

Easter Story

Those of you who know me know that I'm a sucker for a great children's book. Here's a wonderful Easter book that Aubrey and I borrowed from the library last week, and then I saw featured at Barnes and Noble.

Gorgeous watercolor illustrations, beautiful word imagery, and a sweet story of how the Easter Bunny came to be. I think this might be one we have to add to our home collection.

DIY Wheatgrass

We're doing a fun little project around here...growing our own wheatgrass! Aubrey has been itching to plant something and I could use a little spring growing on my countertop as well.

Here is our starter picture. I'm planning on using them as part of the decorations for Asher's birthday party...we'll see if they actually sprout. : )

SPRING!

We had a wonderful taste of spring yesterday. Temperatures have been warming up for a while now (except for that freak snow storm one day last week!) and today was the best of all. We almost hit 80 degrees and the kids and I had a fabulous time enjoying our St. Patrick's Day weather.

As a matter of fact this is a picture of St. Patrick's Day '09 I found...and as you can tell by what Aubrey is wearing it was pretty warm that day too.

I love the short winters here. We didn't get our first snow until the middle of January and seems we're nearing the end here in the middle of March.

Today was one of the rare days where things went according to plan. I wrote out all of our errands as usual but today we actually did them all and everything went pretty smoothly. We went by Target to pick up the pictures we're sending out with Asher's birthday invitations (which of course I'm late sending out) and then we went by the park close to our house.

It started getting a little windy so I got a lot of these "closed eye" smiles

It was overcast but it made it perfect and even made the air pretty humid. Aahhh...humidity...how I've missed you. ( I won't be saying this in July)

It was a lot of fun and even Asher joined in on the swings. He is sure crawling everywhere. He loves to fast-walk whenever someone holds his hands...he'll just take off! I'm sure it won't be long before he'll be climbing all over everything with Aubrey. Aubrey loves the social part even more than the playing though I think. She seeks out whatever kids she can find and makes them her instant "best friends". The swings and slide are a close second though.

We came home and Asher went down for a nap (just like we planned) and Aubrey and I spent the rest of the afternoon outside finding rocks, playing "mommy", coloring chalk pictures, and exploring all the new daffodils blooming in our yard.

Speaking of... this little beauty decided to be the first to bloom yesterday. What a dose of sunshine, and the others aren't far behind. Tulips, grape hyacinths, and sunny daffodils...I can't wait to see you all! : )

Baby's First Beard?

Asher decided to sport a little 5 o'clock shadow when he got into some play kitchen dishes aubrey had "decorated" with watercolors. Still, you gotta love those sweet chubby, somewhat guilty cheeks : )

My Future Teenagers
