Baby Mason

I'll write more later, but the gist of it is I started having hard contractions last night while I was staying up writing my 38 week blog post (haha) and I woke Steve up around 1am and called my mom to come out and stay with the kiddos. I was hesitant about going in as always because I'm  always afraid of being sent home, but after some coaxing we went in.

On our way to the hospital at about 2 am

We got to the hospital about 1:30 and I was 5cm and 80% and having contractions about 2 min apart so we got to stay! yay!

I got my epidural not too long after that and I was a happy camper. There was only one other woman laboring on the floor so it was a pretty quiet night there.  Once I got the epidural I just couldn't keep my eyes open so I finally got some rest. Well, as much rest as you can get with all the machines, bp cuff testing, and still feeling the pressure from the contractions. Either way, they checked me in an hour and I was at a 6 and then I stayed at that for another hour. Definitely different than labor with Asher but I was perfectly comfortable so I didn't mind a bit. My contractions started spacing out a bit so they decided to give me a little pitocin and break my water when the OB came in around 6:45. I told them that I thought breaking my water would make it happen pretty fast for me, and sure enough, within 20 minutes I had made it from 6cm to 10cm and was ready to push.

The OB came in (one out of the 7 in my practice, and of course I hadn't seen him before) and told me not to push with my first contraction. So I waited until the next one and pushed when he asked me too and out came Mason easy as pie in one contraction. I was lucky not to tear or anything either but had one stitch put in anyway for what he called a papercut like cut. He thought it might help it heal a little quicker.

He was 7lbs 5 oz and 20 in long. I was SO surprised that he was smaller than Asher was but still 5 days later than him. I was expected an 8 pounder for sure.  (Asher was 7lb 15 oz and Aubrey was 7 even)

He had a lot of vernix on him and long fingernails. Here he is in all his glory:

 He's Here!!

Asher just loved him and kept saying "hold him? Hold him" I thought he would get tired of holding him soon but he would sit there forever with him on his lap. He was in baby brother heaven!

 Lots of hair!

30!

Happy 30th Birthday Steve!

We love you!

We had a fun day with Steve today for his 30th birthday.  Unfortunately,  poor Aubrey started the day out with a bang by throwing up most of the morning. I guess that's what happens on a 30th birthday...real life!  She got feeling better by late afternoon, and by this evening was her old self. I think I'll still keep her home from church tomorrow anyway just to be safe. Hopefully none of the rest of us catch it though, I'd prefer not to have sick kiddos or be sick myself when it's baby time! We spent most of the day taking care of her but were able to sleep in, have a big breakfast, and Steve got to go out for a little while in the afternoon to go someplaces by himself. We took him out Carrabas tonight for his birthday dinner. Asher was pretty cranky, but the food was good. We came home and had some cupcakes (complete with trick candles!) to celebrate. This kids enjoyed getting to make their own "birthday wishes" too.

 Excited for bday cake!

 The big 3-0!

Isn't he the cutest 30 year old?

Lighting the candles for everyone to have a wish : )

He likes to take nice, normal sized bites...

Happy birthday to a wonderful husband and great father! We love you!
